A unique and exciting travel & learning adventure program that whisks away ethnically diverse tween girls (ages 11-14) from their day-to-day routine and exposes them to an environment rich with culture, environmental appreciation, water & beach activities and camaraderie…straight to the United States Virgin Islands!
Water and beach activities such as snorkeling, sailing excursions, ocean kayaking, a day trip to Coral World and beach volleyball, as well as African/Caribbean dance, storytelling, cultural appreciation and environmental education are just some of what has been been planned for this once-in-a-lifetime tropical camp excursion. Open to girls from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds, there will be 4 girls per cabin.
Look for the OBG Adventure Camps Web site (that will replace the current blog) coming soon!

2011 PROGRAM DATES
** April 22, 2011 - May 3, 2011**
Since Spring Break comes at different times at different schools, there's a chance that a few days of school will be missed. But there's no need to worry! There will be study time every day with Camp Teacher Coco. In fact, campers, students and teachers will all be required to sign a "Homework Contract" that states that all homework and study assignments will be completed while at camp. How's that for a learning adventure?!?!?
Sponsorship donations for any amount from $1 to full tuition are graciously being accepted and will be put to good use via The Kemet Foundation, a Bay Area non-profit corporation and CampCaribe's fiscal sponsor.
Your donation is tax deductible.
The Kemet Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization.
2011 PROGRAM COST
$2295 per Adventurer includes roundtrip air transportation, all accommodations, ground transportation, meals, activities & Adventurer Kit!
There are a few parents out there that are ahead of the curve and they have decided to start paying/fundraising now!
Starting March 2010, for less than $230 a month*, you can give your daughter or loved one the gift of a tropical sunset.
To get set up on the $230 per month payment plan for CampCaribe 2011 by (1) paying all tuition costs yourself or (2) supplementing all or a portion of tuition costs, please contact Tracey@campcaribe.com. 100% of tuition is tax deductible!

“I learned to water ski in the Pacific Ocean. I learned the beauty of a campfire. I learned how to chase away the wild boar at night. And I also learned the intricacies of friendship. When camp was over and it was time to go home, I sobbed until I couldn’t breathe. And it was all because of camp. OBG Adventure Camps is my dream...another way to give back.”
If you have had a chance to read The Idea for CampCaribe on Oprah's Angel Network, then you know that CampCaribe is a learning adventure program that is near and dear to my heart, as it has been on the drawing board for over 10 years.
Myself, Assistant Camp Director & Aquatics Director Allyson Bailey (Alley), and Camp Counselor & Education Assistant Coco Kelley are committed to making this adventure program a dream come true by ultimately becoming the premiere learning adventure program for diverse girls in the nation. One that celebrates culture, diversity and strong self image; one that promotes water activites, environmental education and local cultural exploration; and one that sets it self apart by providing a place near the sea for diverse girls to learn and grow. We promise you... It'll be a blast!
In an effort to empower Brown Girls that have an interest in the camp experience, we hope to be able to offer a Counselor in Training (CIT) Program in the near future. Click here to read about what a Brown Girl counselor has to say to Oprah's Angel Network about her experience as a counselor at a camp in Chicago.Stay tuned!
